Réel ou fantasmé, l’imaginaire de la Terre Promise irrigue, par ses manifestations et enjeux pluriels, le champ des lettres hispanophones. Cet espace sacré, marqué à la fois du stigmate de l’errance et de la promesse du repos et de l’abondance, donne lieu à de multiples représentations et métamorphoses fictionnelles. Les chercheur·euses de la NEC+ se sont ainsi penché·es sur les figurations et transfigurations de la Terre Promise dans la fiction espagnole contemporaine. Les quinze études de ce volume interrogent les réélaborations sacralisées ou dystopiques de la Terre Promise, les dynamiques fictionnelles liées à l’insularité, les motifs de l’errance et de la migration vers des lieux meilleurs, ou encore le symbolisme métalittéraire de l’El Dorado, dans les œuvres d’un large éventail d’écrivain·es (G. Martín Garzo, A. Grandes, R. Menéndez Salmón, J. Ma Merino, M. de Unamuno, J. Ma Guelbenzu, A. Ibáñez, C. Martín Gaite, J. Moro, A. Fernández Paz, R. J. Sender, C. Mola, V. Blasco Ibáñez). Ces travaux sont éclairés par le texte initial de L. Husson traitant des ambiguïtés théologiques de la Terre promise, ainsi que par le dialogue fécond entre G. Martín Garzo, C. Mena et H. Bastard.

Figurations and Transfigurations of the Promised Land in Contemporary Spanish Fiction

Abstract
Real or imagined, the imagination of the Promised Land permeates, through its multiple manifestations and stakes, the field of Spanish-language literature. This sacred space, marked both by the stigma of wandering and the promise of rest and abundance, gives rise to numerous fictional representations and metamorphoses. Researchers at NEC+ have thus examined the figurations and transfigurations of the Promised Land in contemporary Spanish fiction. The fifteen studies in this volume explore the sanctified or dystopian reworkings of the Promised Land, the fictional dynamics linked to insularity, motifs of wandering and migration toward better places, as well as the metaliterary symbolism of El Dorado, in the works of a wide range of writers (G. Martín Garzo, A. Grandes, R. Menéndez Salmón, J. Mª Merino, M. de Unamuno, J. Mª Guelbenzu, A. Ibáñez, C. Martín Gaite, J. Moro, A. Fernández Paz, R. J. Sender, C. Mola, V. Blasco Ibáñez). These studies are illuminated by L. Husson’s introductory text on the theological ambiguities of the Promised Land, as well as by the fruitful dialogue among G. Martín Garzo, C. Mena, and H. Bastard.
