Brillant « de l’éclat du diamant » (P. Gimferrer), le roman Paraíso inhabitado ainsi que l’inachevé Demonios familiares, qui avait pour vocation de le prolonger, peuvent être vus, conjointement, comme la dernière pierre d’un imposant monument littéraire qu’Ana María Matute (1925-2014) commença à construire au début des années quarante où elle publia son premier conte, pour faire paraître, quelques années plus tard, son premier roman.
Réunissant des études consacrées, pour certaines, à l’œuvre complète de Matute ou à quelque aspect ou élément marquant de celle-ci, tandis que d’autres sont centrées sur Paraíso inhabitado (actuellement au programme des Concours), le présent ouvrage s’offre comme une forme d’hommage rendu à cette grande écrivaine que fut – que restera à jamais – Ana María Matute et, plus particulièrement peut-être, à la fantaisie créatrice qui est au fondement de son univers et de son écriture, sans que soit pour autant éludé le rapport au réel et à la réalité de son temps.

Towards the Uninhabited Paradise

Abstract
Brilliant “with the sparkle of a diamond” (P. Gimferrer), the novel Paraíso inhabitado and the unfinished Demonios familiares can be seen as the final stone of the literary monument Ana María Matute (1925–2014) began in the early 1940s. This volume gathers studies on her complete works or key aspects, especially Paraíso inhabitado, as a tribute to her enduring legacy and creative imagination, while acknowledging her engagement with the reality of her time.
