Pese a la gran permisividad que reina hoy en la mayoría de los países europeos y americanos, todavía existen numerosos tabúes cuya transgresión puede provocar polémicas, sanciones judiciales y hasta agresiones físicas. Hay tabúes en todos los ámbitos de la vida social, política, económica y cultural: temas particularmente delicados siguen siendo, entre otros, la sexualidad y la religión, la enfermedad y la muerte, la violencia y el suicidio. Este libro reúne once artículos sobre el tabú y su transgresión en la literatura y el cine de España e Hispano­américa desde mediados del siglo XX hasta hoy.

Taboo and Transgression in Contemporary Hispanic Culture

Abstract
Despite the growing permissiveness in many European and American societies, numerous taboos remain, and breaking them can still provoke controversy, legal penalties, or even physical aggression. Sensitive issues include sexuality, religion, illness, death, violence, and suicide. This book gathers eleven articles examining taboo and its transgression in Spanish and Latin American literature and cinema from the mid-twentieth century to the present.
