Situados en el centro del continente americano tanto a nivel geográfico como cultural, los siete países que conforman el istmo centroamericano suelen ser considerados —irónicamente— como periféricos con respecto a los retos regionales y globales. Sin embargo, histórica y políticamente, Centroamérica concentra en un espacio reducido la mayoría de los fenómenos observados a nivel continental —desigualdades, violencia, corrupción, multiculturalismo—. ¿Qué lugar ocupan la libertad de expresión y de creación en este contexto?

Abstract
Located at the heart of the Americas, Central America’s seven countries are often seen as peripheral to regional and global challenges. Yet historically and politically, the region concentrates many continental issues—inequality, violence, corruption, multiculturalism—within a small space.
