Sachant combien le silence peut être éloquent, providentiel ou effrayant, conscients qu'il est un élément inhérent à cet art du dire qu'est la prose narrative et qu'il est indissociable de l'acte créatif et de la lecture, les chercheurs de la NEC+ avaient choisi, ces dernières années, de mener une recherche collective sur cette question apparemment paradoxale de o l'expression du silence " dans la fiction littéraire de l'Espagne contemporaine.
Le présent volume est le fruit de ces investigations. Au fil des vingt contributions ici rassemblées, se préciseront les modalités d'inscription du silence dans le texte, se dessineront les contours d'une rhétorique et une ébauche de typologie prenant en compte le silence dans ses multiples configurations, qu'il soit intentionnel ou qu'il relève d'une parole empêchée, voire défaillante... Le silence apparaît, de fait, comme un outil privilégié pour aborder de grandes thématiques de la littérature universelle (la construction de soi, l'histoire familiale ou nationale, la relation au pouvoir).
De Jardiel Poncela aux représentants de l'ultra-contemporanéité, c'est un ample éventail de la littérature espagnole du vingtième siècle et du début du vingt-et-unième qui se déploie, allant jusqu'à proposer une incursion dans la littérature de jeunesse. Un témoignage d'écrivain ouvre le volume sous la forme d'un dialogue entre Soledad Puértolas et deux spécialistes françaises de son oeuvre.

Title
The Expression of Silence in Contemporary Spanish Fiction Narrative

Abstract
Knowing how eloquent, providential or frightening silence can be, aware that it is an inherent element of the art of narrative prose and that it is inseparable from the creative act and reading, researchers at NEC+ chose to conduct collective research on the seemingly paradoxical question of “the expression of silence” in contemporary Spanish literary fiction. This volume is the result of those investigations. Throughout the twenty contributions gathered here, the ways in which silence is incorporated into the text will become clearer, the contours of a rhetoric will emerge, and a rough typology will take shape, taking into account silence in its many forms, whether intentional or resulting from speech that is impeded or even failing. Silence appears, in fact, to be a privileged tool for addressing major themes in world literature (self-construction, family or national history, relationship to power). From Jardiel Poncela to the representatives of the ultra-contemporary, a wide range of 20th and early 21st-century Spanish literature is explored, even venturing into children's literature. A writer's testimony opens the volume in the form of a dialogue between Soledad Puértolas and two French specialists in her work.
